The shop renovation is complete an it’s looking absolutely amazing in there. A huge thanks to everyone who helped out! We’ll be open tonight at 6, so come by if you need work, or just stop in to see what we’ve done to the place.

Shop Closed this Week

This week, December 26 - 30, we are closing our shop for renovations. Cleaning! New organization! Paint! We will be here working, so if you happen to come by you are more than welcome to help out with our projects, but no bike work will be done.
The shop will re-open in the new year. Happy Holidays everyone!

Bici Coop is hosting the 2012 Bike!Bike!SE conference March 23/24/25. We’re so so excited! Our opening night event is going to be March 23 at Bottletree Cafe - GOLD SPRINTS!! This video is a great example of what Gold Sprints is like. True, they’re French, but you get the idea. It’s going to be AMAZING.

Maps maps maps!

Maps is a new page on our site. It’s been up for a while but some new maps have been added. I (Ross) made them using routes I’ve found myself taking most often to get around. I’d like it to grow, so, if you know how to make a map on Google send me a link and I’ll post it. If not, get it to me how ever you want and I’ll make it.

Race Recap: The Kitty Cat

I am still taking it all in; this race was completely amazing. We had 45 total racers, a huge number compared to our usual turn out; so many men in drag, so many ladies kicking butt, so much fun! The amount of sponsors we were able to get on board made the prize give away a blast - everyone who won something was totally stoked. And the food. Oh my god the food. SUSHI! VEGAN COCONUT CAKE! Green Central Station brought an unbelievable spread.

Congratulations to all our winners! Alan was first for the guys, Elizabeth was first for the gals. Maaike won the Po Campo bag for best dressed among the ladies - check out that fancy necklace! Rishi won the Chrome bag for best dressed among the dudes. The competition for that prize was tough, but as you can see below, he really did it up right. Stuffed what needed to be stuffed and all.

Thank you to every who donated, volunteered, raced, hung out, gawked. Also thanks to the photographers who shared the photos for this post - Virginia Jones and Mary Lou Davis. Some others that the Bici crew took should show up sometime soon.

The race is only two days away, hoorah! Here’s a list of the stops - you will have to go to each one of these places, but in the order WE give you the day of the race.

Kitty Cat is this Sunday!

Our 3rd Annual Ladies Alleycat is this weekend! Here’s some details:

Event will start and end at Rushton Park (31st Street South and Highland Avenue). Registration starts at 1:30, race will roll out promptly at 2 pm.

Route around downtown Birmingham (not over the mountain), approximately 10 miles, prizes for all sorts of things so everyone has a chance to win. After the race we’ll have a picnic in the park hosted by Green Central Station - lots of great food and lawn games will be provided.

We’re currently working on the details for our next alleycat race of the year - the Ladies Race. This one is going to be set up a little different from any race we’ve organized in the past, and we’re super pumped about it. One thing that remains the same is that dudes must wear skirts, so go ahead and start getting your outfits together guys. Mark your calendars for September 11!

This is an evening for women who might feel intimidated or uncomfortable with the usual testosterone laden bike shop atmosphere; the Bici ladies will be there along with one of our very kind male mechanics to help you work on your bike and understand your bike better. If your bike doesn’t need any repair but you just want to have a chat, come on by! We’ll provide beer and wine.
